Volunteering at Trinity Yard offers a unique opportunity to live and work in the developing world. Unlike many volunteer programs, volunteering here places you directly in a rural location, while at the same time providing support in a safe and secluded living environment. Our location on a pristine stretch of the Ghanaian coast is idyllic; volunteers live seconds from the beach and have access to a number of ocean-related activities. But, above all, joining Trinity Yard gives volunteers a chance to make a lasting impact on a number of highly grateful, underprivileged Ghanaian youth.
Because the Trinity Yard School is a not affiliated with the American or Ghanaian government, the school is able to use a curriculum that provides students with an alternative education. This means that there is no strict formula one must follow to teach at the school. We encourage volunteers to be creative in their teaching styles and to incorporate their own experiences, both academic and personal, into their teaching lessons. Teaching at Trinity Yard is an opportunity to play a vital role in the growth of a small non-profit organization, and to receive the individual attention and tangible teaching experience that can be obtained only at a small institution.
Volunteer teachers at Trinity Yard have a wealth of material to work with – our library holds thousands of donated books as well as an entire section of teaching materials. In many volunteer positions, teachers work alone in an unfamiliar environment; here, you will be among other passionate young adults like yourself who act as a network of support and guidance.
Volunteering at Trinity Yard is, without question, a selfless act that demonstrates one’s compassion towards others. Our students are especially grateful for the guidance that volunteers contribute to their lives. Our contribution makes a lasting impression on our students’ futures. Yet most volunteers leave here feeling they gained just as much in experience and teaching-related skills as they gave in their work to the organization. At Trinity Yard, we aim to instill in our volunteers a sense of independence and offer an opportunity to gain both personal and global insight in a completely unfamiliar, yet completely welcoming, environment.

How to apply?
We accept volunteer applications on a rolling basis and ask you to send us a letter of interest along with your résumé. We have recurring openings for educators of English as a Second Language and math. We have also hosted farmers, videographers, photo journalists, artists, musicians, and other professionals. We’re always open to contributions from talented, dedicated individuals looking to contribute to the lives of the young adults we serve.
Without the hard work and dedication of numerous volunteers over the years, there would be no Trinity Yard. Volunteering at Trinity Yard is more than a job; it’s an experience. Joining us means becoming part of a community of international volunteers, a Ghanaian staff, and our students and their families and friends.
